Tochinishiki Wins No. 10 in Sumo
TOKYO (UPI) - Yokozuna Tochinishiki stopped tall Komusubi
Kashiwado's drive and then defeated him with an arm throw to register his
10th straight win Tuesday in the 15-day sumo tournament.
Taiho, 13th ranking maegashira, who is competing
for the first time in the Makuuchi or top division, kept pace with Tochinishiki
by winning his 10th bout. He sent more than 10,000 fans at the Kokugikan
Arena into a frenzy as he whirled first-ranking maegashira Tochihikari
out of the ring.
Yokozuna Asashio, competing for the first time in
four tournaments, made good his comeback attempt by winning his eighth
bout.
Ozeki Wakahaguro, winner of the Fukuoka tournament
last November, suffered his fourth defeat against six wins. First-ranking
maegashira Ohikari defeated him after the judges had overruled the referee's
decision in Wakahaguro's favor and ordered the two wrestlers to fight over.
