TOKYO (UPI) - Third-ranking maegashira Kitanonada attacked relentlessly and defeated ozeki (champion) Kotogahama in a major upset Tuesday on the third day of the 15-day sumo tournament.
    Yokozuna (grand champion) Tochinishiki won his third straight victory as he shoved fourth-ranking maegashira Iwakaze out of the ring.
    Yokozuna Wakanohana, who suffered his second straight setback Monday at the hands of sekiwake Dewanishiki, disappointed millions of sumo fans throughout the nation by withdrawing from the tournament on the advice of his physician. A diagnosis showed he was suffering from bronchitis and a nose ailment.
    Yokozuna Asashio also won his third straight bout as he defeated komusubi Tamanoumi without much trouble.
