Waka, Tochi Win Sixth Straight

OSAKA, Japan (UPI) - Yokozuna (grand champion) Wakanohana side-stepped to the right, quickly grasped third-ranked Maegashira Annenyama by the girdle with his right hand and threw him for his sixth straight victory in this year's second of six 15-day sumo tournaments.
Wakanohana, 30, is the favorite to win his third straight tournament. Thirty-four-year-old Yokozuna Tochinishiki, who was rumored near retirement late last year, displayed tremendous strength as he easily drove out the strong Maegashira Wakanoumi for his sixth win.
Only three other wrestlers continued their winning streak among the 50 contestants in the top "makuuchi" division.

THEY WERE:  - Tenth-ranked maegashira Atagoyama, who threw new maegashira Tamahibiki as he threw his opponent to the sand.
- Thirteenth-ranked maegashira Kashiwado, 20, who pushed out strong eighth-ranked Maegashira Iwakaze.
- Komusubi Wakahaguro, who charged with both hands and forced fifth-ranked maegashira Naruyama out of the ring.
Wakachichibu, 19, who created sumo history by being the first teenager to be promoted to the rank of komusubi after the last tournament in January, suffered his fifth defeat in six days.
The 320-pound Wakachichibu was thrown by 1st-ranked maegashira Shinobuyama, 33.
