Wakanohana Upset by Annenyama

    FUKUOKA (UPI) - Twenty-four-year-old Annenyama, second ranking maegashira, Sunday pulled off the biggest surprise in the current sumo tournament by upsetting yokozuna (grand champion) Wakanohana.
    A packed house of more than 10,000 in the indoor arena cheered Annenyama when he charged and pushed Wakanohana out of the ring in the day's final bout.
    It was Wakanohana's first defeat in the eight days of the 15-day, sumo championships. Annenyama now has a 4-4 record.

    STRONG 33-YEAR-OLD Tokitsuyama, of komusubi rank, threw ozeki (champion) Kotogahama and continued to lead in the tourney with his eighth straight victory without a loss or draw. He alone has a perfect record to date among the 48 competing wrestlers in the top division.
    Up and coming 19-year-old Wakachichibu suffered his third defeat when 35-year-old Kitanonada got the jump on him and pushed him out of the ring.
