FUKUOKA, Japan (UPI) - Yokozuna (grand champion) Wakanohana, shooting for his third straight tournament championship, narrowly averted defeat Friday at the hands of maegashira Tsurugamine on the sixth day of the 15-day official sumo tourney here.
    Tsurugamine got a good hold on Wakanohana and appeared a possible winner.
    But Wakanohana weathered the storm, broke loose from the hold, and finally forced Tsurugamine out of the ring.
