Wakanohana Wins Autumn Sumo Title

    TOKYO (S&S)- -Grand Champion Wakanohana scored his 13th straight victory Friday to clinch the Emperor's Cup as winner of the Autumn Grand Sumo Tournament at Kuramae Kokugikan.
    Wakanohana wrapped it up with an impressive victory over Shinobuyama to bring his tourney record to 13-0.
    A trio of sumos who had a chance of overtaking Wakanohana with 10-2 records went down to their third defeats Friday. Asashio bowed to Shionishiki, Ohikari defeated Tsurugamine and Tokitsuyama handed Wakachichibu his third loss.
    BY APPLYING the clincher over Shinobuyama, Wakanohana annexed his fourth championship and his second since becoming a Yokozuna.
    In. Saturday's anticlimax 14th day, Wakanohana was to meet the 6-foot 6-inch Ouchiyama. On Sunday's final card of the meet, the will take on Asashio.
    At the outset of his Friday match, Wakanohana was hard pressed when Shinobuyama broke quickly with his fast attack. But Wakanohana worked out of a tight spot and dropped his opponent with a left arm throw.
    Two other Yokozunas, Tochinishiki and Chiyonoyama, were forced to withdraw from the tournament due to injuries.
