    Grand Champion Chiyonoyama Sunday suffered his third straight defeat, dropping his match to Asashio, seriously impairing his title hopes in the 15-day New Year's Grand Sumo Tournament at the Kokugikan arena.
    Kotogahama, victor over Chiyonoyama Saturday, scored his second big upset in two days as he bowled over Mitsuneyama, an Ozeki (second rankman).
    At the close of the eighth day of the tourney, 354-pound Yokozuna Kagamisato, winner over Miyanishiki Sunday, and
Sekiwake Ouchiyama, who dumped Dewanishiki, led the field of topflight grapplers with records of seven wins and one defeat. Behind them are Yokozuna Tochinishiki and Ozeki Mitsuneyama with 6-2 records.
