Yoshibayama Beaten By Asashio

Yoshibayama, one of top-ranking Sumo wrestlers, is spilled for his first defeat in the current Sumo Tournament at Kokugikan Thursday by Asashio.

SUMO RESULTS
Fifth Day

Another Grand Champion bit the dust Thursday in the New Year's Grand Sumo Tournament at the Kokugikan as Yoshibayama was cleverly thrown by underdog Asashio.
This left Chiyonoyama the only undefeated Yokozuna at the close of the tourney's fifth day. The other Yokozunas, Kagamisato and Tochinishiki, have one and two setbacks respectively marring their records.
Two Sekiwakes (third-rank-men), Wakanohana and Matsunobori, regarded prospects for elevation to the Ozeki rank, dampened their hopes in dropping their second matches of the meet, to Odachi and Hajimayama.

Results of other main matches:
Onobori beat Kuninobori
Dewanishiki beat Miyanishiki
Ouchiyama beat Wakasegawa
Mitsuneyama beat Kitanonada
Kagamisato beat Kotogahama
Tochinishiki beat Shionishiki
Chiyonoyama beat Tamanoumi
