217 University Wrestlers To Vie For Nat'l Honors

    Two hundred seventeen wrestlers of 31 leading universities and colleges will compete for the national supremacy in the 28th Annual National Intercollegiate Sumo Tournament scheduled to take place on November 11 and 12 at the Ohama ring in Sakai near Osaka.
    Pairings for the first three preliminary rounds in the inter-team competition were decided by drawings at the Osaka headquarters of the Mainichi Press on November 2.
    Eight best teams will be chosen according to the showings in the second preliminaries to be fought by the winners in the first rounds plus five seeded squads - Chuo, Meiji, Waseda, Kinki and Kwangaku - and will then advance into the final tournament to vie for the national championship.
