Terukuni Withdraws

Grand Champion Terukuni withdrew from the 15 day spring sumo tournament which will go into its fifth day Wednesday. Terukuni suffered from a wrenched thigh.
The withdrawal of Terukuni left only Haguroyama to hold the fort for sumo artists of the highest Grand Champion rank. Earlier, Azumafuji withdrew while Maedayama was booted out of the sumo association for leaving the last tournament at Osaka to see the San Francisco Seals baseball team in action.
Champion Chiyonoyama continued to give a good account of himself as a strong candidate for promotion into the Grand Champion class.
