Hokkaido Team Wins Title; Ishida Individual Champ
SAKAI, Aug. 29 - The Hokkaido High grapplers won
the team honors in the national senior high school sumo tourney, which
ended at the Ohama ring here yesterday after a two day series, under the
joint sponsorship of the Japan Sumo Federation and the National Senior
High School Sumo Federation with the support of the Mainichi Press.
The powerful Hokkaido squad won the inter-team finals,
by beating the Sapporo Technical team, 2 to 1.
It the match for deciding the third place, the Sumoto
High wrestlers from Hyogo downed the Saikyo High aggregation or Kyoto,
2 to 1.
Ishida of the Saikyo High cinched the individual
title, by beating Arita of Tochiku High in Fukuoka in the hard fought finals.
This was his second consecutive triumph.
Sawada of the Kochi Technical of Shikoku defeated
Kawada of Kinsoku High of Akita in the match for deciding the third place.
