'Ozeki' Masuiyama Wins Sumo Tourney

TOKYO, May 30 - Masuiyama, "ozeki" of the West team,
captured the individual championship of the summer main professional sumo
tournament, by beating Hajimayama, "maegashira," in a playoff on the last
day of the 15 day series yesterday at the Kokugikan in Hamacho park here.
The finalists finished their scheduled 15 games
with 13 wins and two defeats each, a result of which a playoff was needed
to decide the winner in the senior camp.
This was Masuiyama's second pennant victory in the
official tourney, the first being in last autumn.
