Pro Wrestler Tamanoumi Runs For Mayor Election
OMURA, Nagasaki, Jan. 17 - Former professional wrestler
Tamanoumi (real name, Umekichi Kagehira), 37, filed an application on January
14 to run for the coming election of the mayor of Omura scheduled to take
place on January 28.
Born in Shinjo in this city, he entered the professional
sumo circles after graduating from a primary school. Although he was once
promoted to the rank of "sekiwake," Tamanoumi retired from the ring in
1944.
Besides managing a cotton spinning plant in Sakai
City, Osaka Prefecture, he is now serving as principal of the Hanshin Dress-Making
High School in Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture.
