Sumo Tourney Opens

    TOKYO, Nov. 3 - Nayoroiwa, "haridashi-ozeki" of the East team, was thrust out by Kozuzan, "sekiwake" of the West squad, on the first day of the 11 day autumnal tourney of the Japan Sumo Association held at the sumo ring in the outer garden of the Meiji Shrine here today before a big crowd of spectators.

The results of the other leading matches on the first day were:

Masuiyama threw down Mitsuneyama
Shionoumi toppled Kashiwado
Azumafuji toppled Kotonishiki
Saganohana threw down Chiyonoyama
Maedayama toppled Terunobori
Terukuni derricked out Kamikaze
Haguroyama toppled Sakuranishiki
