Participated in by 38 representative teams from all parts of the country, the 25th National Intercollegiate Sumo Tournament will be held on September 27 and 28 at the Nakamozu sumo ring in the suburbs of Osaka, under the joint auspices of the Mainichi Press and the Japan Sumo League.
    The pairings for the event were decided by drawings conducted on September 14 at the Osaka Headquarters of the Mainichi Press, in the presence of captains of the participating teams.
    Beside the inter-team competition, an individual contest will be staged by all the participating grapplers divided into four groups. The winners in the four groups will contest for the individual title in the final round.

    The 25th National Secondary School Tourney jointly sponsored by the Mainichi Press and the Japan Sumo League will be held on October 11 and 12 at the Nakamozu sumo ring near Osaka.
    The pairings for this tourney will be decided by drawings on september 30 at the Osaka Headquarters of the Mainichi Press.
