Maedayama's 1st Defeat

    TOKYO, June 9. - Maedayama, "ozeki" of the West team, who beaten for the first time since the opening day at the hands of Kamikaze, "sekiwake," on the seventh day of the 10 day summer main sumo tourney at the Meiji sumo ring here today.
    By outpointing the West team 12 to 8 on that day, the East camp further increased its lead to 34 points with the total score of 89 to 55, thereby assuring itself of a two-straight victory in the inter-team competition.

The results of the other leading matches were:

Kashiwado threw down Shinshuzan
Mitsuneyama thrust out Itsutsuumi
Yatakayama thrust out Saganohana
Azumafuji pushed out Aichiyama
