JAP SUN GODDESS BALMY BUT FREE BY POLICE ORDER
KANAZAWA, (Japan) Jan. 24. (AP) - Jiko, the self-proclaimed
sun goddess, was released from police custody today although a psychiatrist
pronounced her mentally deranged.
Also released was Futabayama, one of her leading
disciples, who was so infuriated at her arrest that he battered several
policemen with chairs and clubs. Friends of Futabayama, former world champion
sumo wrestler, reported he has had enough of Jiko and will return to the
prosaic job of coaching wrestlers.
Several leading Jiko cultists were held, however,
to explain whether heavy collections of money and food for the sun goddess
were made legally.
