Ex-Wrestler Futabayama Charges Police
As 'Feminine Deity' Is Nabbed In Kanazawa

KANAZAWA, Jan. 22 - Yoshiko Nagaoka, 44, self-styled feminine deity of the Jiu-kyo whose prediction of an "earth's catastrophe" has terror-stricken a number of superstitious people, was arrested by police late last night together with her four enthusiastic followers.
Included among those arrested is noted ex-Sumo wrestler Futabayama.
The former champion of Japanese wrestling ran amuck like a wild bull when Constable Sergeant Koburagi and 24 cops of the Tamagawa police station rushed into the headquarters of the Jiu-kyo yesterday at 11 p.m.
The arrest came just before their attempted night to Tokyo. They felt danger threatening them from the previous day when the police sent a subpoena to god-claimant Nagaoka.
The police confiscated 45 bags of rice including 11 small bags, 11 bags of beans and one cask of soy bean sauce, all dedicated by Nagaoka's followers.
She declared in jail: "God will give man a big global upheaval to purify his creatures. Tokyo is now a sea of flames. I was about to go to Tokyo by the 11.30 p.m. train to supply food."
