Nayoroiwa Topples Maedayama On 11th Day

With the autumn main sumo tourney reaching its climax, Maedayama, "ozeki" of the East team, suffered his first defeat in the current tournament at the hands of Nayoroiwa in an all-"ozeki" bout on the 11th day of the 13 day series, November 16, at the Memorial Hall, Tokyo.
As a result of the defeat of Maedayama, Haguroyama, "yokozuna" and captain of the West team, became the only undefeated grappler in the senior camp.
The West aggregation outpointed the East camp 13 to 9 in the inter-team competition, thus narrowing the later's lead to only three points.
