Individual Honors Taken By Arimitsu Of Kainan
NAKAMOZU, Osaka, Oct. 14 - Displaying good team work
in every match, the Kochi Agricultural grapplers won the team honors in
the 24th national secondary sumo tourney, which ended at the Nakamozu sumo
ring here today after a two day series. This was the Kochi Agricultural's
second triumph.
By smashing out a 2 to 1 victory over the Sanbongi
agricultural team from Aomori, the powerful Kochi agricultural squad won
in the inter-team final matches.
Sumoto Whitewashed
The Kainan middle wrestlers from Kochi whitewashed the
Sumoto middle aggregation from Hyogo by the one sided score of 3 to 0 in
a deciding match for third place.
Following the conclusion of the inter-team competition,
the individual contest was staged, being participated in by all the wrestlers
of the contesting teams.
By toppling Sonau Sendo of Kochi agricultural in
the hard fought finals, Hazime Arimitsu of Kainan middle clinched the individual
title.
Sasaki Beats Sawada
In a deciding match for third place, Tetsuro Sasaki
of Hokkaido middle defeated Kazuo Sawada of Sumoto middle.
After the conclusion of the individual contest,
a closing ceremony was held at 3 p.m., during which the championship banner
was presented to the Kochi agricultural team, and the "Mayor of Sakai"
prize awarded to the individual champion Arimitsu.
