Prep Sumo Teams Vie For Crown

24th Meet To Be Held At Nakamozu Oct. 21, 13.

    The 24th national secondary school sumo meet will be held on October 12 and 13, starting at 9 a.m., at the Nakamozu sumo ring on the Koya line of the Kinki Nippon Railway Co.
    Sponsored jointly by the Japan Sumo League and the Mainichi Press, the national event will be participated in by 50 representative teams, one each from all prefectures with the exception of Osaka, Wakayama, Hyogo and Kochi prefectures where two each representative squads have been chosen.
    In the inter-team competition, a three match series will be contested by all the participating teams to select the best 16 teams, which will fight it out for the coveted championship in accordance with the tournament system.
    The individual contest will be staged by all the grapplers divided into four groups. The winners in the four groups will vie for the individual tilt in the final round.
    The representative sumo teams which have so far been chosen through local preliminaries, are as follows.
