Kotonishiki Tightens Hold On Sumo Crown
Toyonishiki Defeated; Tourney Ends Today
By pushing out Toyonishiki, the Hawaiian born Nisei wrestler
of the East team, in a feature match on the 10th day of the 11 day series,
Kotonishiki, a promising "maegashira" of the West team and sole undefeated
grappler in the senior camp, further tightened the possibility of realizing
his long cherished ambition for the championship of the Osaka main sumo
tourney on June 24 at the Kokugikan, Abenobashi, Osaka.
In an all "ozeki" bout, Azumafuji, vice captain
of the East team, yanked out Saganohana after a grueling tussle.
