Fans Flock To See Osaka Sumo Tourney
Before a capacity audience, who packed the open-air
ring, the Osaka main tourney of the Dai Nippon Sumo Association got under
way on June 14 at the specially constructed sumo ring, Abenobashi, Osaka,
under the fine early summer weather.
From early in the day, sumo fans in the Kansai district
turned out to the sumo ring. The absence of Terukuni and Akinoumi, both
"yokozuna," proved a big disappointment to the crowd.
