WRESTLERS HOLDING TOUR
20 Champs Featured on Benefit Program Scheduled in Osaka
Approximately 20 wrestlers belonging to the Nippon
Wrestling Association will participate in a wrestling tournament, which
will be sponsored by a Korean organization for a benefit purpose on May
20, in Osaka. The Nippon Wrestling Association was reorganized recently
with Ichiro Hata as president. The group includes former wrestling champions
of various colleges and universities in Tokyo, receiving regular training
at the Waseda University gym.
Eiichi Kazama, one of Japan's top-notch wrestlers
returned recently from the South, where he was reportedly killed in action
as a naval officer. Kazama went to America in 1939 as captain of a Japanese
wrestling team and competed against American college wrestlers in the West.
Many other college wrestlers are returning from overseas, and the membership
is gradually increasing, according to Masaichi Hayashi, manager of the
Nippon Wrestling Association.
