SUMO PROGRAM STUDIED

Conditions May Prevent Full Scale Summer Tournament

The directors of the Dai Nippon Sumo Association held a meeting at their headquarters on Tuesday and decided to draw up their program for the summer wrestling tournament. No definite measures have been drafted yet, in view of the uncertainty of future conditions due to air raids and the conscription or mobilization of the professional wrestlers, although all of the "yokozuna" and "ozeki" are able to take part in the summer matches.
Toyoshima and Matsuuragata, who were killed during air raids, leave a great gap, much regretted by the sumo fans.
The Sumo Association directors are of the opinion that, in case circumstances make it impossible to hold a full-scale summer tournament, they may hold non-official contests on a small scale.
