SUMO WRESTLERS SET TO WORK IN WAR PLANTS

Will Offer Labor Service During Period Between Summer, Spring Tournaments

    Giving up the holding of sumo tournaments in various districts in the country in the interim between the summer and spring grand tournaments in Tokyo, all the members of the Japan Sumo Association will enter war production factories. Grand Champion Futabayama and Kamikaze of the "koumsubi" rank are already active on the labor front.
    Divided into three groups under the Grand Champions Haguroyama, Terukuni and Akinoumi, the wrestlers will be dispatched to various war factories in the Kansai. The first group will take up its labor service from June 11 and by July 8 all the wrestlers will be grappling with their jobs on the production front.
    Aside from the rendering of labor service the wrestlers will gve their efforts toward imporving the physical conditions of the men on the industrial front by giving them guidance in sumo training. Furthermore, at the end of the labor service period, each wrestler will return to his native district and work in factories in his own home town.
