'Haguro' Beats 'Aki'

Individual Title Is Certain; Futabayama Defeated

Haguroyama, captain of the East team, assured himself the individual title in the summer tourney, by defeating Akinoumi in an all-"yokozuna" match on the ninth day of the 10 day tournament, May 16, at the specially constructed ring in the Korakuen stadium, Tokyo.
In another all-"yokozuna" bout, Futabayama, who had been maintaining an undefeated record since the first day, was finally toppled by Terukuni.
As a result of the defeat, Haguroyama became the only grappler retaining an unmarred record in the senior camp.
By outpointing the East team 14 to 10 on that day, the West team narrowed the East side's lead in the inter-team competition to 16 points, the total score being 115 points to 99.
