2 'Yokozuna' Topple

Saganohana And Nayoroiwa Shine On 7th Day

    Terukuni and Akinoumi, both "yokozuna" of the West team, were toppled by Saganohana and Nayoroiwa, both "sekiwake," respectively, on the seventh day of the summer main sumo tourney, May 14, at the specially constructed ring in the Korakuen stadium, Tokyo.
    As a result, Terukuni and Akinoumi tasted their third and second defeat, respectively, in the current tourney.
    On that day, the East team outpointed the West team 16 to 7 to further increase its lead in the senior inter-team competition with the total score of 94 points to 73.
