7th Day Of Sumo

Saganohana And Toyoshima Receive Black Balls

Saganohana, "komusubi" of the West team, and Toyoshima, "maegashira" of the East team, who have been maintaining their undefeated records since the opening day, were finally given black marks at the hands of Kashimanada and Azumafuji, respectively, on the seventh day of the current main sumo tourney, January 15, at the Kokugikan, Tokyo.
In the "maku-uchi" (senior) camp, no grappler holds an unmarred record as a result of the defeats of Saganohana and Toyoshima.
Sobuyama, rising wrestler in the "juryo" (junior) camp, thus became the only undefeated wrestler, beating Asa-ake on that day.
Outpointing the West team 12 to 9 on the seventh day, the East team narrowed the West's lead in the inter-team series to 11 points, total score being 84 points to 73.
