Matsuuragata Again Shines On 7th Day Of Sumo Tournament

    Matsuuragata, who defeated Terukuni, "yokozuna," on the fifth day, again shone by beating Akinoumi, "yokozuna," on the seventh day of the summer main sumo tourney, May 18, at the Kokugikan, Tokyo, thus making a clean sweep over both the "yokozuna" grapplers of the west team.
    Kiyomigawa, who maintained his winning streak until the sixth day, suffered his first defeat at the hands of Tsurugamine. As a result of the defeat of Akinoumi and Kiyomigawa, the wrestlers retaining undefeated records are Futabayama and Haguroyama, both "yokozuna" of the east team.
    By launching a general attack, the East team overpowered the West team 15 points to 7 on that day to increase its lead to 12 points, 85 to 73.
