Azumafuji Downs Futase On 2nd Day Of Meet At Kokugikan

    Azumafuji, promising grappler of the East team, again shone by defeating Futasegawa, "komusubi," on the second day of the summer main sumo tourney, May 10, at the Kokugikan, Tokyo.
    Adding nine more points, the East team increased its lead in the senior inter-team series to 12 points, 29 to 17. The results of the leading matches on the second day were:

Saganohana defeated Wakasegawa
Sagamigawa defeated Wakashio
Tsurugamine defeated Toyoshima
Maedayama defeated Dewaminato
Nayoroiwa defeated Shionoumi
Futabayama defeated Hishuzan
Akinoumi defeated Futamiyama
Haguroyama defeated Ayanobori
Terukuni defeated Kashiwado

 All 4 'Yokozuna' Win

    The East team assumed a three point lead over the West team on the first day of the summer main tourney of the Dai Nippon Sumo Association which got under way on Sunday, May 9, at the Kokugikan at Ryogoku, Tokyo.
    Azumafuji lived up to his reputation by defeating Kasagiyama, veteran "maegashira," in his first match since being promoted to the senior camp.
    All of four "yokozuna" grapplers won their respective matches.
The results of the leading bouts were:
