2 'Yokozuna' Beaten
Futaba, Aki Bow On 5th Day Of Osaka Sumo
Futabayama and Akinoumi, both "yokozuna," who maintained
their undefeated records until the fourth day, were defeated by Masuiyama
and Kamikaze respectively, on the fifth day of the Osaka tourney of the
Dai Nippon Sumo Association, April 9, at the specially constructed Kokugikan
in the Fukushima park.
It was also a jinx day for Maedayama, "ozeki," who
suffered his first defeat at the hands of Kashimanada. As a result, Haguroyama,
"yokozuna," is now the only grappler who maintains an unmarred record since
the opening day.
On the fifth day, the West team outpointed the east
team 12 to 10 for the first time since the initial day.
