Osaka and Hyogo Grapplers Will Compete May 24
The fifth annual inter-factory sumo wrestling contest
between Hyogo and Osaka Prefectures will be held at the specially constructed
arena at Koshien on May 24 at 10 a.m. under the auspices of the All-Nippon
Factory Sumo Federation and supported by the Osaka and Hyogo chapters of
the Patriotic Industrial League and the Osaka Mainichi.
Divided into three rounds with each round having
11 matches, 33 husky grapplers from both sides will battle for the team
championship, which will be determined by the total points resulting from
the 33 bouts.
The battle for individual honors will follow the
team contests and will be open to all qualified wrestlers winning two out
of three matches during the group matches.
Three victories have been scored by the Hyogo prefecture
team, compared with one for Osaka in past years.
