New Sumo Rankings

    The Dai Nippon Sumo Association on May 5 announced the new rankings of sumo wrestlers for the second main tourney amid the Greater East Asia War which will be opened on May 10 at the Kokugikan at Ryogoku, Tokyo. The tourney will continue for 15 days as usual.
    Terukuni, "ozeki," and other grapplers of the Isegahama club were shifted to the West team in the new rankings and in turn Maedayama, "ozeki" of the Takasago club, was shifted from the West team to the East team.
    By the shifts, the much desired bouts between Terukuni and Futabayama and between Terukuni and Haguroyama will be realized from this tourney onward. Furthermore the competition between Akinoumi and Terukuni for the title of "yokozuna" will add further interest.
    The high ranking grapplers in the new grouping are:
