Futabayama Wins

Pro Sumo Tourney Ends; East Team Beats West By 205 To 156

    Futabayama  "yokozuna" and captain of the East team, won his ninth individual championship in the senior camp of the spring main sumo tourney which was concluded on January 25 after a 15 day series at the Kokugikan at Ryogoku, Tokyo.
    He is now tied with Tachiyama and Tochigiyama in the number of championships won, scoring nine victories, the record so far.
    Futabayama lost only to Toyoshima in his 15 matches.
    In the team performances, the East team outrivaled the West team 205 points to 156.
