FANS SURPRISED TO HEAR MINANOGAWA IS RETIRING

Futabayama Regrets Grand Champion of West Camp Is Giving Up Wrestling.

     Sumo fans, or the Japanese Wrestling, were shocked as Grand Champion Minanogawa announced his retirement due to Neuralgia.
     Grand Champion Minanogawa first entered the sumo ring 14 years ago and was promoted to the rank of Yokozuna 6 years ago. He was respected by all wrestlers for his skill and sportsmanship. In his last tournament from January 11 to 25, he lived up to his name as head champion of the West team.
     At the report of Minanogawa’s retirement, Futabayama, the head of the East team, who had been a good match to Minanogawa, told the Asahi “I found an equal in Minanogawa. He was rather active during the first half of the January matches but his ailment began to assert itself in the later half. I couldn't help feeling sorry for him.
