Akinoumi, "ozeki," the only undefeated wrestler, Futabayama, Haguroyama and Minanogawa, all "yokozuna," and all other favourties won their respective matches on the ninth day of the spring main sumo tourney at the Kokugikan on January 19.

    The West team which has been inactive since the second day outpointed the East team 13 to 11 for the second time in the current tourney on its eighth day, January 18, at the Kokugikan. The East team, however, still leads by 105 to 89.
    Akinoumi, the only undefeated grappler in the senior camp, kept up his unmarred record by beating the fighting Saganohana.
