Minanogawa Falls

Akinoumi Only Undefeated Wrestler At Present

    Minanogawa, "yokozuna" of the West team, suffered his second defeat in the current sumo tourney at the hands of Saganohana, "maegashira," on the sixth day of the tourney at the Kokugikan on January 16.
    Akinoumi, "ozeki" of the West team, became the only undefeated grappler at the end of the sixth day. Hishuzan and Kamikaze, who had maintained unmarred records until the fifth day lost to Futasegawa and Mastunosato, respectively.
    The East outpointed the West team 15 to 9 on the sixth day, maintaining the lead in the senior inter-team matches by 79 to 65.
