'Yokozuna' Toppled

Futaba And Minanogawa Both Taste Defeat

    Futabayama and Minanogawa, both "yokozuna" and captains, respectively, of the East and West teams, suffered their first defeats in the current sumo tourney on its fifth day, January 15, at the Kokugikan, Tokyo. Futabayama went down in defeat before Toyoshima, while Minanogawa lost to Tsurugamine.
    As the result of the defeats of the two "yokozuna," the undefeated grapplers at the end of the fifth day are only three, namely, Akinoumi, "ozeki," and Hishuzan, "sekiwake," both of the West team, and Kamikaze, "maegashira" of the East team.
    The East team continued to lead, 64 to 56 at the end of the fifth day.
    The results of the other leading matches on the fifth day were:
