Pro Meet Starting Today At Kokugikan
The spring main tourney of the Japan Professional
Sumo Association will be opened on Sunday, January 11th, at the Kokugikan,
Ryogoku, Tokyo, to last for 15 days.
The time-honored ring festival was held on January
10 at 10 a.m.
The leading matches on the first day are:

Ringside broadcasts of the spring sumo wrestling
tournament from the Kokugikan arena, Tokyo, will be abolished this year
in favor of recorded broadcasts lasting about 15 minutes following the
childrens' news hour at 6 p.m. daily.
The above decision was made by the Broadcasting
Corporation of Japan in order to give preference to news broadcasts and
for other reasons.
On Sundays, the sumo broadcasts will be made following
the 3 p.m. news hour.
