Terukuni, Toyoshima Are Finally Toppled

3 Undefeated Wrestlers Remain Including Futabayama

    Terukuni, “sekiwake” and the hope of the West team, and Toyoshima, “maegashira” of the East team, both 28-year-old grapplers, who maintained their records unmarred until the 6th day, were finally toppled by Kasagiyama, “komusubi”, and fighting Matsuuragata, respectively, on the 7th day of the current summer main sumo tourney at the Kokugikan, Tokyo, on May 15.
    As the result of the defeats of Terukuni and Toyoshima, the undefeated wrestlers are Futabayama, “yokozuna”, and Haguroyama, “ozeki”, captain and vice-captain respectively, of the West team, and Akinoumi, “ozeki”, the hope of the East team.
    Nayoroiwa, “sekiwake” of the West team, and one of the powerful trio from the Tatsunami Club, who suffered only one defeat to Tominishiki on the first day, went down in defeat before tricky Ayanobori.
    The East team and the West team battled for a 12-50-12 tie in the senior inter-team matches on that day.
