FUTABAYAMA SUCCESSFUL IN DEFEATING AKINOUMI

Grand Champion Has Difficulty in Disposing of Lesser-ranking Opponent

In the main attraction of the 14th day of the professional wrestling tournament yesterday, Grand Champion Futabayama, of the west camp, with difficulty beat Akinoumi of the east.
Haguroyama, of the west, defeated Grand Champion Minanogawa of the opposite camp with a clever body throw which, though ineffective in toppling the 312 pound grand champion, was enough to send him out of the ring tottering.
The Futabayama-Akinoumi bout was a most controversial one. Akinoumi pushed opponent to the ringside, when Futabayama executed a throw and the two fell almost simultaneously. The umpire judged Futabayama the winner, but because of a protest from Maedayama, Akinoumi's second, another bout was staged in which Futabayama pushed out Akinoumi.
