Slate Is Kept Clean By 3 Sumo Leaders

Futabayama, Akinoumi, And Haguroyama Undefeated; East Squad Ahead

    Futabayama, Haguroyama, and Akinoumi kept up their winning streaks on the 11th day of the current spring main sumo tourney at the Kokugikan on January 20.
    Futabayama defeated Hishuzan, fighting "sekiwake", thereby avenging his defeat at the hands of Hishuzan in the summer tourney of 1940.
    Haguroyama triumphed over Sakuranishiki, while Akinoumi, the hope of the East team, toppled Nayoroiwa, one of the powerful trio from the Tatsunami Club, after a grueling fight.
    Adding to the exciting atmosphere, thunder rumbled over the kokugikan when Futabayama met Hishuzan.
    The East team led by 133 points to 118 at the end of the 11th day.
