Eastern Camp Keeps Lead At 9th Day End

Losers Include Maedayama, Itsutsujima, and Terukuni

    By launching a general attack, the East team maintained the lead by 112 points to 96 at the end of the ninth day of the spring main sumo tourney at the Kokugikan, Tokyo, on January 18.
    Maedagawa and Itsutsujima, both "ozeki" and on the East team, were toppled by Tamanoumi and Saganohana, respectively, both from the Nishonozeki Club and of the West team.
    Terukuni, "sekiwake", hope of the West team, who suffered only one defeat to Ayanami on the fourth day, went down in defeat before Kasagiyama, who defeated Nayoroiwa, "komusubi", the undefeated wrestler, on the seventh day.
    The East team outrivaled the West team 17 to 6 on that day.
