Good Pairings Await Sumo Fans Saturday

Enthusiasm Is Heightened As 2nd Half Bouts Are Fought

    Minanogawa, "yokozuna", who has already lost three of seven matches, was lucky enough to score an uncontested point on the eighth day, January 17, of the current spring main sumo tourney, as the result of default by Banjaku, due to injury he suffered in the match with Jintozan on the seventh day.
    The enthusiasm among the fans over the ancient national martial art has been further heightened, due to presentation of good pairings.
    Because of increasing number of fans who besieged the Kokugikan on the night of January 16, eager to see the eight day's match, January 17, the management  of the kokugikan opened its doors at 9 p.m., January 16. At 10.30 p.m., all the individual seats up to the fourth floor (save for reserved and special seats) were filled to capacity.

    Futabayama, "yokozuna", and Haguroyama, "ozeki", both from the Tatsunami Club and on the West team, and Akinoumi, "ozeki", only undefeated grappler of the east team and from the Dewanoumi Club, defeated their respective opponents, maintaining unmarred records since the opening day on the eighth day, at the Kokugikan, Tokyo on January 17.
    Itsutsujima, "ozeki", of the East team, who had already suffered two defeats, went down in defeat before Sadogashima.
    The East team continued to lead, 95 points to 90, at the end of that day.
