After suffering defeat on three successive days, Minanogawa won on the sixth day from Aobayama.
The east team out rivaled the West team 17 points to 7 on the sixth day.

Minanogawa Problem

Yokozuna's 3 Successive Defeats Issue

The three successive defeats of Minanogawa, "yokozuna", the highest ranking wrestler in the East team, from the third day to the fifth day in the current spring main sumo tourney have come to be taken up as a question not only among the fans, but also among the officials of the Dai Nippon Sumo Association.
As the sixth day, January 15, happened to be a servants' holiday, many shop-boys were among those who besieged the Kokugikan on the night of January 14. The doors were thus opened again at 9.50 p.m.
All the admission tickets for the sixth day were sold out as early as 2.30 a.m., January 15.
Included among the group visitors were students from the military preparatory school and the naval signal school.
The leading pairings on the seventh day, January 16, are:

Sakuranishiki Asahigawa
Kasagiyama Nayoroiwa
Ayanobori Terukuni
Hishizan Saganohana
Sagamigawa Haguroyama
Akinoumi Matsuuragata
Itsutsujima Tsurugamine
Maedayama Katsuragawa
