Commemorating the 26th centenary of the Empire founding, the national invitation intercollegiate sumo meet and the national invitation secondary school sumo tourney will be held at the arena of the Kashihara Shrine on Sunday, May 19, and Sunday, May 26, respectively.
    The matches, which will commence at 9 a.m., are under the auspices of the Osaka Mainichi with the support of the Nippon Students' Sumo League.
    Picked by the Nippon Students' Sumo League from Kanto and Kansai, the 16 strongest institutions will compete for supremacy in the tournaments, which will be divided into individual and team divisions.
    Competing in the intercollegiate contest are:
    Sehshu university, Ritsumeikan, Chuo, Nagoya higher commercial, Takushoku, Osaka higher medical, Keio, Kandai, Hosei, Doshisha, Meiji, Doshisha higher commercial, Nichidai, Nichidai collegiate, Rikkyo and Kwansei Gakuin.
