'CRANE' BEATS HAGUROYAMA
Grand Champions Easily Win Over Weak Opponents During Third Day Tourney

Hishuzan, dubbed "crane" for his powerful lifting power, stole the show Monday in the third day of the current 15-day Sumo tournament at the Kokugikan bowl at Ryogoku by defeating Haguroyama, "Ozeki" or rank immediately below "Yokozuna" or Grand Champion.
Hishuzan's victory was all the more impressive as he is generally believed to be but the shadow of his former self, while Haguroyama had been undefeated up to Saturday and expected to remain undefeated in the current tournament because of his excellent physical condition.
No sooner had they stood up to grapple than Hishuzan pushed Haguroyama and lifted him into the air for his impressive victory.
Grand Champions Futabayama and Minanogawa were altogether too strong for their opponents. The former had little trouble in pushing Fujinosato, one of the oldest wrestlers in the top ranking circle, out of the ring. Minanogawa crushed without trouble Kaneminato.
Taikyuzan registered a surprise by outwitting the strong Terukuni, "Sekiwake" or rank immediately below "Ozeki" or Champion, who is only 21 years old but is considered to be a future Grand Champion.
