Something's Wrong

Futabayama

Futabayama Is Sick

Complains Of Stomach Ache; 'Is Not Serious', Says Sumo Champion

"I don't know what ails me," remarked Futabayama, champion professional wrestler of Nippon, when visited by a reporter at the Akiyoshi tea house run by his wife at Kobikicho 7-chome, Kyobashi, Tokyo on Tuesday night, April 30.
He recently returned to Tokyo from his swing around the provincial circuit, complaining of a pain somewhere in his system. With the East vs. West "Summer" tourney near at hand his absence at practise matches is keenly felt by followers of the arena game.
"It's nothing serious, I know. Otherwise I wouldn't be talking to you, here tonight," he went on.
"By the time we got to Sendai, I had severe pain in the left side of my stomach. A Roentgen examination at Mito showed there was nothing wrong with me.
"I kept on wrestling and returned here no better. Ordinarily I would have continued to practise, but because of a big tourney ahead they let me have a four or five day's rest.
"At first I turned all around trying to figure out what was the matter with me. i've found out this much. It isn't a spinal trouble. Perhaps I may have strained my muscles while asleep. I know I shall have to buck up in a day or two since a big event is just ahead."
