Pro Sumo Spring Main Tourney Ends Today; Futabayama Again Heads Performance List

    The main spring tourney of the Japan Professional Sumo Association will be wound up on January 25, after a 15 day competition, at the Kokugikan at Ryogoku, Tokyo.
    Futabayama, "Yokozuna" in the Eastern camp, topped the list of individual performances at the end of the the 14th day on January 24, by winning 13 out of 14 matches in which he grappled. The only defeat he suffered was from Itsutsushima on the 11th day.
    Although Futabayama has to go one more match today, he has already won the honor of being the individual champion in the current tourney.
    Itsutsushima, a "Maegashira" in the Western camp, and Terukuni, a "Maegashira in the Eastern group, followed Futabayama with 11 victories and 3 defeats each at the end of the 14th day.
    In the team contest, the Eastern group led by 2 points, 160 points to 158.
